ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices. Results are already adding up.
Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR, have saved enough energy in a single year to avoid greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those from 27 million cars — all while saving $16 billion on their utility bills.

Note: In order for homeowners to receive any rebates, NFRC labels must remain on the windows until a gas/utility company representative inspects the windows. Some rebates may require a manufacturing order number, which can be found on the Harvey warranty label.
Performance Ratings (from ENERGY STAR)
The NFRC label, which can be found on all ENERGY STAR qualified windows, provides performance ratings in a number of categories:
- U-Factor measures how well a product prevents heat from escaping a home or building. U-factor ratings generally fall between 0.20 and 1.20. The lower the U-factor, the better a product is at keeping heat in. U-factor is particularly important during the winter heating season. Find the ENERGY STAR U-Factor for your region.
- Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) measures how well a product blocks heat from the sun. SHGC is expressed as a number between 0 and 1. The lower the SHGC, the better a product is at blocking unwanted heat gain. Blocking solar heat gain is particularly important during the summer cooling season. - Visible Transmittance (VT) measures how much light comes through a product. VT is expressed as a number between 0 and 1. The higher the VT, the higher the potential for daylighting.
